We are in Toronto. Joey is now officially on the Ontario waiting list. Hurray!

So now the next phase of waiting begins.

We are very excited. So much so that we’ve decided to run a pool. Whoever guesses closest to the date of when he gets his new lungs wins half, the other half will go towards paying our rent. $10 per entry. My money is on July 17th, Joey’s is on February 1st (our respective birthdays). We are told that the average wait time is 6 months. Joey has a common blood type (O+) and bigger than average lung size (7.6 liters for any of you who are interested). Make your guesses accordingly, if you dare to wager a guess. As if getting new lungs isn’t enough, we need to spice it up with a pool. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I think that’s all for now folks. We’re off to enjoy the beautiful weather we’re having. It’s a balmy 5 degrees here in Toronto. We’re practically in Hawaii.

The Toronto transplant team told us that Joey will be able to be listed for transplant in Ontario. Now all we have to do is make it out there. Gulp! We’re anticipating that we will be able to get to Toronto by mid-December(ish). After we’re there, we need to sign some documents to make it official that Joey is on the waiting list. Once that happens it’s all legal-eagle and he will be on the list for transplant. Yeah! Next step after that: wait for an appropriate donor.

So it looks like we might be having a white Christmas. We had a taste of snow in Victoria last week and now we’re chasing the storm. (Just call us Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton!)
